This child group collects Railroads of the United Kingdom and Ireland members headquartered or based in Wales, spanning the major South Wales coal-carrying companies that connected the valleys to the coal ports (the Barry Railway, the Rhymney Railway, the Taff-connected Vale of Neath Railway, the Port Talbot Railway and Docks Company), the Cambrian Railways network across mid Wales, the historic narrow gauge slate railways of North Wales (the Festiniog and Blaenau Railway, the Corris Railway, the Welsh Highland Railway, the Padarn Railway), and a large number of smaller Welsh county and valley lines from Pembrokeshire to Anglesey. At 38 members it sits under this atlas's oversized-group threshold and needs no further split at this time.
