Festiniog and Blaenau Railway

The Festiniog and Blaenau Railway was a narrow gauge railway built in 1868 to connect the town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, Wales, with the slate quarries around Tanymanod and the village of Llan Ffestiniog three and a half miles to the south, primarily carrying passengers, including quarry workers, rather than freight. It connected with the Festiniog Railway at Blaenau Ffestiniog and was purchased in 1883 by the Bala and Festiniog Railway, which converted it to standard gauge to extend its own line; the route later became part of the Great Western Railway's operations.
