French Railroads

This child group collects European Railroads members headquartered or based in France, spanning the modern national operator (SNCF) and its freight and regional subsidiaries (Captrain France, Europorte, Colas Rail), the great nineteenth century private companies that SNCF was formed from in 1938 (the Chemins de fer de Paris a Lyon et a la Mediterranee, the Chemins de fer de l'Ouest, the Chemin de fer de Lyon a la Mediterranee), the Paris Metro's founding company, and a number of smaller regional and departmental lines (the Chemins de fer de Provence, the Compagnie Meusienne de Chemins de Fer). At 15 members it is well under this atlas's oversized-group threshold and needs no further split.
