Chemins de fer de Provence

Chemins de fer de Provence is a small French rail company operating a metre-gauge line, known locally as the Train des Pignes, between Nice and Digne-les-Bains in Provence. Construction began in 1890 and the 151-kilometre route, which includes 27 tunnels, was completed in 1911. The line is not part of the SNCF network; it is owned by the Syndicat Mixte Mediterranee Alpes, which took over its concession in 1972, and its daily passenger service is operated by CFTA, a subsidiary of Veolia Transport.
