Greater London Railroads

This child group collects English Railroads members headquartered in London, the largest concentration of company head offices anywhere in this atlas's Railroads tree. It spans the great London terminus companies that became the Big Four and then British Rail (the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway; the London, Midland and Scottish Railway; the Southern Railway; the London, Chatham and Dover Railway; the South Eastern Railway; the London and Southampton Railway and its successor the London and South Western Railway; the London and North Western Railway and its predecessor the London and Birmingham Railway; the London and North Eastern Railway), London's deep-level tube pioneers (the City and South London Railway, the Central London Railway, the Metropolitan Railway, the Charing Cross, Euston and Hampstead Railway, the Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway, the Hampstead Junction Railway, the Underground Electric Railways Company of London), smaller historic London lines (the Surrey Iron Railway, the Edgware, Highgate and London Railway, the London and Blackwall Railway), and the nationalised and privatised era operators headquartered in London (British Rail, the British Railways Board). At 22 members it sits under this atlas's oversized-group threshold and needs no further split at this time.
