Leadership

Leadership is the ability of an individual, group or organization to influence or guide other individuals, teams or organizations, and as a practice discipline it is the part of management concerned with how that influence is exercised. Specialist literature treats it as a contested term, sometimes contrasting Eastern and Western approaches and, within the West, North American and European ones. Some definitions describe it as a process of social influence in which a person enlists the aid and support of others in a common and ethical task, and studies of leadership have produced theories built around traits, situational interaction, function, behavior, power, vision, values and charisma. Management theories about leading people, such as Servant Leadership and Transformational Leadership, are grouped under this discipline.
