This child group collects Professional and Commercial Services members whose core business is the practice of law: international and national law firms spanning the American white shoe firms of New York, Boston, Chicago, Houston and Washington, the Magic Circle and other major London and European firms, South Africa's Big Five, and firms across Asia-Pacific, formed and reformed through decades of mergers and combinations chronicled in each firm's own description. At 60 of 106 members this is by far the largest child group, reflecting how heavily this particular member list skews toward law firms rather than the broader commercial services population GICS itself would expect; it is kept apart from Management and Professional Consulting, reserved for accounting and strategy consulting firms rather than firms practicing law.
