The Manchester and Birmingham Railway was an English railway company that built the line between Manchester and Crewe, opening it in stages from 1840. Trains ran through to Birmingham over the connecting Grand Junction Railway between Crewe and Birmingham. The company was merged into the London and North Western Railway in 1846.
