The Maatschappij tot Exploitatie van Staatsspoorwegen, or SS, was a private railroad founded in 1863 and headquartered in Utrecht, Netherlands, to operate the country's government-funded railways. Along with the Hollandsche IJzeren Spoorweg-Maatschappij, it was one of the two largest railroad companies in the Netherlands, until the two companies formally merged in 1938 to form the Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
