Great Central Railway was an English railway company formed in 1897 when the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway changed its name ahead of a major southward expansion. Its London Extension opened in 1899, and the company ceased to exist as an independent entity on 1 January 1923, when it was grouped into the London and North Eastern Railway.
