Dayton, Sheridan and Grande Ronde Railroad

Industrials

The Dayton, Sheridan and Grande Ronde Railroad was a narrow gauge railroad company incorporated in 1877 by farmers from Bellevue, Dallas, Perrydale, Sheridan and Willamina in Oregon's Yamhill and Polk counties, who wanted rail service for their towns. The company built about twenty miles of track along the Yamhill and South Yamhill rivers between Sheridan in the west and Dayton in the east. Financial trouble ended its independence by 1879, when a group of Scottish investors led by the Earl of Airlie bought the struggling line, paid off its debts and reorganized it as the Oregonian Railway.
