Christian Moerlein Brewing Co. is a beer company that began production in 1853 in Cincinnati, Ohio, founded by German immigrant Christian Moerlein. Before closing in 1919 because of Prohibition it was among the ten largest American breweries by volume. The brand was revived in 1981 by the Hudepohl Brewing Company as an early precursor to the craft beer category, and in 1999 Hudepohl-Schoenling Brewing Co. sold it to a group of investors.
