AC Golden Brewing Company was founded on July 11, 2007, by Pete Coors and Glenn Knippenberg as a subsidiary of MillerCoors, itself a division of Molson Coors Brewing Company, meant to serve as a specialty brand incubator for MillerCoors. The brewery operates in the former pilot brewery of the Coors Brewery and debuted its first beer, Herman Joseph's Private Reserve, in 2008; in April 2010 it introduced the Colorado Native Amber lager, brewed entirely from Colorado ingredients and sold only within the state. After Miller was purchased by Molson Coors and MillerCoors was dissolved, AC Golden Brewing Company became part of Tenth and Blake Beer Company, the craft and import division of Molson Coors.
