Samuel Moore Walton was an American business magnate, born 29 March 1918 in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and died 5 April 1992 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is best known for founding Walmart in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 and Sam's Club in Midwest City, Oklahoma in 1983. Under his leadership Walmart grew into the world's largest corporation by revenue and the largest private employer in the world, and Walton ranked as America's richest person from 1982 to 1988.
