Eric Li Shufu (born 25 June 1963) is a Chinese billionaire entrepreneur and the founder and chairman of Geely. He was born in Taizhou, Zhejiang, and has a master's degree from Yanshan University. Li founded Geely in November 1986, and it is now the second-largest private automobile manufacturer in China. On 28 March 2010 Geely signed a deal worth 1.8 billion US dollars to buy Volvo Cars from the Ford Motor Company, the largest foreign purchase by a Chinese car manufacturer. In 2018 he became Daimler's largest shareholder with a 9.7 percent stake, and in 2022 his group acquired a 7.6 percent stake in Aston Martin.
