Sir Geoffrey Cust Faber (1889 to 1961) was a British publisher, academic and poet who helped build one of the best known literary publishing houses in the English language. Educated at Rugby School and Christ Church, Oxford, where he took firsts in Classical Moderations and in Greats, he joined the Oxford University Press in 1913 and became a fellow of All Souls College. He was the founding editor of Faber and Gwyer, which soon became Faber and Faber, and his publishing career is reflected in his book A Publisher Speaking (1935). He also wrote poetry and prose, including Oxford Apostles, and was knighted in 1954. He was a nephew of the hymn writer Father Frederick William Faber, founder of the Brompton Oratory.
