Bill Drayton (born 1943) is an American social entrepreneur credited with popularizing the term social entrepreneur and with founding Ashoka: Innovators for the Public in 1981 to identify and support leading social entrepreneurs worldwide. He has been called the godfather of social entrepreneurship, was named one of America's 25 Best Leaders by U.S. News and World Report in 2005, and is a MacArthur Fellow who was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 2019.
