A tilting three-wheeler, also called a tilting trike, leaning trike or tilter, is a three-wheeled vehicle, usually with a narrow track, whose body or wheels lean into a turn. Because the lean lets the vehicle balance some or all of the roll moment caused by cornering against an opposite moment from gravity, in the way a bicycle or motorcycle does, it can take bends without rolling over even though its axle track is narrow. The lean also reduces the sideways acceleration the rider feels, which some people find more comfortable than a conventional trike. A narrow body can lower aerodynamic drag and improve fuel efficiency, and such vehicles have been described as man-wide vehicles. Designers can choose which wheels steer, which are driven and which tilt, so the category covers a wide range of layouts.
