Lyft is a ride-hailing service founded by Logan Green and John Zimmer, launched in 2012 as a peer-to-peer ridesharing offshoot of their earlier long-distance carpooling company Zimride. It became Uber's principal rival in the United States ride-hailing market, positioning itself with a friendlier, community-oriented brand image (drivers' cars once displayed a signature pink mustache), and it went public in 2019.
