An automotive head unit, also called an infotainment system, is the vehicle audio component that provides a single hardware interface mounted centrally in a car's dashboard for its entertainment and information systems. It typically unifies AM/FM radio, satellite radio, CD and DVD playback, USB audio, navigation and Bluetooth connectivity, along with controls for volume, frequency, speaker balance, bass and treble. Newer units add video screens, voice control and gesture recognition to manage these expanded functions.
