Sebastian Pietro Innocenzo Adhemar Ziani de Ferranti (9 April 1864 to 13 January 1930) was a British electrical engineer and inventor, born in Liverpool, England, who pioneered high-voltage alternating current power in the United Kingdom, patented the Ferranti dynamo and designed Deptford power station. His name is also attached to the Ferranti effect and to work on high-voltage circuit breakers. His father, Giulio Cesare Ziani de Ferranti, was an Italian photographer and his mother, Juliana, was a British concert pianist, and he was educated at Hampstead School, London, St. Augustine's College, Westgate-on-Sea, and University College London. He died in Zurich, Switzerland, in 1930.
