Harlan E. Anderson, who lived from October 15, 1929 to January 30, 2019, was an American engineer and entrepreneur best known for co-founding Digital Equipment Corporation together with Ken Olsen, a company that later became the second-largest computer company in the world. He had been a member of the technical staff at the Lincoln Laboratory of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and served as Director of Technology for Time, Inc. He took part in the early financing of more than twenty small technology companies and was a trustee of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for sixteen years.
