Kenneth Harry Olsen, who lived from February 20, 1926 to February 6, 2011, was an American engineer who co-founded Digital Equipment Corporation in 1957 with his colleague Harlan Anderson and his brother Stan Olsen. He was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, served in the United States Navy, and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he directed the building of the first transistorized research computer, the TX-0. He led the company as president until he was forced out, and he was known for valuing humility and engineering innovation.
