Eastman Kodak, once the dominant force in photographic film, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January 2012 after failing to adapt quickly enough to the shift from film to digital photography, a technology it had itself pioneered decades earlier. The company emerged from bankruptcy in 2013 as a much smaller, restructured business focused on commercial imaging and printing rather than consumer film and cameras.
