The Sacramento Northern Railway was a 183-mile electric interurban railway company connecting Chico in northern California with Oakland by way of Sacramento, running directly on city streets in Oakland, Sacramento, Yuba City, Chico and Woodland. With its shorter route and lower fares, the company competed with the Southern Pacific and Western Pacific Railroad for both passenger and freight business between Oakland and Sacramento.
