Central of Tennessee Railway and Navigation Company

The Central of Tennessee Railway and Navigation Company, reporting mark CTRN and doing business as the Longhorn Railway Company, was a freight railroad that began operating on June 19, 1992 and ran two unconnected lines: a 25-mile segment from Nashville to Ashland City in Tennessee, owned by the Cheatham County Rail Authority after its purchase from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, and roughly 162 miles of former Austin and Northwestern Railroad trackage across six central Texas counties, owned by the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority, running between Giddings and Llano with several branches. The company ceased operations in August 2000 after eight years, with the Nashville and Western Railroad succeeding it on the Tennessee line.
