The Cockermouth, Keswick and Penrith Railway was an English railway company established by act of Parliament on August 1, 1861, connecting Cockermouth with the London and North Western Railway's West Coast Main Line at Penrith over 31 and a half miles with eight intermediate stations. The London and North Western Railway and North Eastern Railway held shares in the line and operated it jointly, the LNWR running passenger and goods traffic and the NER handling mineral freight, and the company stayed independent until the 1923 Grouping folded it into the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. The line closed west of Keswick in April 1966 and the remaining Keswick to Penrith section followed in March 1972, though freight continued to Flusco and Blencow until June of that year.
