Great Eastern Railway

The Great Eastern Railway was a pre-grouping British railway company, founded in 1862, whose main line linked London Liverpool Street to Norwich along with other lines through East Anglia, serving towns including Cambridge, Chelmsford, Colchester, Great Yarmouth, Ipswich, King's Lynn, Lowestoft, Norwich and Southend-on-Sea. Its suburban network around London became, in the early twentieth century, the busiest steam-hauled commuter system in the world. The company was grouped into the London and North Eastern Railway in 1923.
