East of England Railroads

This child group collects English Railroads members headquartered or historically based in East Anglia and the wider East of England. It includes the Eastern Counties Railway, incorporated in 1836 to link London with Ipswich, Colchester, Norwich and Yarmouth and the direct predecessor of the Great Eastern Railway, whose own main line ran from London Liverpool Street to Norwich across East Anglia; the Yarmouth and Norwich Railway; the Bury St Edmunds and Thetford Railway; the Northern and Eastern Railway, whose built route ran from Stratford through Bishop's Stortford to Hertford; and the Colne Valley and Halstead Railway in Essex. At 6 members it sits well under this atlas's oversized-group threshold and needs no further split.
