PKP Intercity

PKP Intercity is the subsidiary of Poland's PKP Group responsible for long-distance passenger rail service in the country, headquartered in Warsaw. Established on September 1, 2001 as part of the restructuring that separated Polish State Railways' passenger operations from its infrastructure functions, the company runs roughly 350 trains a day under brands including Express Intercity Premium, Express Intercity, InterCity and Twoje Linie Kolejowe. By 2023 it held about 18 percent of the Polish market for rail passengers, and its high-speed Pendolino trainsets can reach 250 kilometers per hour. The operator has reported strong recent passenger growth, carrying over 44.7 million passengers in the first half of 2026 alone, a substantial increase over the same period in prior years.
