The Thuringian Railway Company (Thueringische Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft) was a German railway-building company founded in 1844 at Erfurt, with a quarter of its share capital held by the Kingdom of Prussia alongside several German states and municipalities. The company built and operated railway lines across the Thuringian states, most significantly the 189-kilometer Thuringian Railway between Halle and Gerstungen, completed in stages between 1846 and 1849, and it eventually expanded its network to 505 kilometers. The Prussian government progressively took over its operations from January 1, 1882, acquiring full ownership by July 1, 1886, ending the company existence.
