The Royal Wurttemberg State Railways was the state owned railway operator of the Kingdom of Wurttemberg, established under the Railway Bill of April 18, 1843. It built and ran an extensive network across Wurttemberg, including main lines from Stuttgart through the Neckar Valley to Ulm and Friedrichshafen, reaching 2,256 kilometres of track and 639 stations by 1913. It was transferred to national ownership on April 1, 1920 and folded into the newly formed Deutsche Reichsbahn along with the former state railways of Bavaria, Prussia, Saxony, Baden, Mecklenburg and Oldenburg.
