Deutsche Bahn AG is Germany's national railway company, headquartered in Berlin and wholly owned by the German federal government. It was formed in 1994 through the merger of the railways of the former West Germany and East Germany, Deutsche Bundesbahn and Deutsche Reichsbahn, following German reunification. Deutsche Bahn operates passenger and freight rail service across Germany and, through subsidiaries, a substantial international logistics business, and it runs the InterCityExpress high-speed rail network that connects major German cities and links onward into neighboring countries.
