It is the largest group in this subcategory, reflecting how much of global drug development and manufacturing still runs through traditional chemical pharmaceuticals rather than biologic medicines, and it is kept apart from Biotechnology, reserved for companies whose core product is a biologic medicine derived from a living organism rather than a synthesized chemical compound.
