CVS Health Corporation is an American health care company headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, founded in 1963 as Consumer Value Stores, a chain of discount health and beauty retail stores that grew into a nationwide pharmacy chain. It expanded into a broader health care company through acquisitions including the pharmacy benefit manager Caremark in 2007 and the health insurer Aetna in 2018, combining retail pharmacy, pharmacy benefits management and health insurance under one company.
