Theakston Brewery

Theakston Brewery, formally T&R Theakston, is a British brewery based in Masham, North Yorkshire, founded in 1827 by Robert Theakston and John Wood at the Black Bull pub and brewhouse before relocating to Paradise Fields after Theakston's sons took over in 1875. It is the sixteenth largest brewer in the United Kingdom by market share and the second largest family owned brewery after Shepherd Neame, best known for its Old Peculier beer, and it maintains one of the few in-house cooperages remaining in Britain. Simon Theakston and his three brothers reacquired majority ownership of the family firm from Scottish and Newcastle in 2003.
