Wuhan Iron and Steel Company Limited, known as WISCO, operates a steel plant in the Qingshan District of Wuhan, China, and was a subsidiary of the state-owned Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation until a 2016 merger. That year Baosteel Group and Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation announced a merger under which the listed Wuhan Iron and Steel Company Limited was taken over by Baosteel's listed counterpart, Baoshan Iron and Steel, in an all-share deal, following a heavy 2015 net loss that led the group to announce a 4.42 million metric ton cut in production capacity.
