WestCOT

WestCOT was a theme park proposed by The Walt Disney Company in 1991 as a second gate for the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, to be built and operated by Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. It was conceived as a West Coast counterpart to EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World, celebrating technological innovation and international culture through a Future World section and a World Showcase, with a planned icon called SpaceStation Earth modeled on EPCOT's Spaceship Earth. Rising land acquisition costs, neighborhood opposition over light pollution and aesthetics, and Disney's financial strain following the opening of Euro Disney Resort led the company to cancel the project by 1995, and its site instead became Disney California Adventure Park, which opened in 2001.
