VF Corporation is an American apparel and footwear holding company headquartered in Denver, Colorado, the owner of a portfolio of outdoor and lifestyle clothing brands. It traces its history to 1899, when it was founded in Reading, Pennsylvania, as the Reading Glove and Mitten Manufacturing Company, and the company took the name Vanity Fair, later shortened to VF, after a lingerie and apparel brand it developed in the 1910s. VF Corporation grew over the following century primarily through acquisition into a diversified apparel conglomerate, and its current brand portfolio includes The North Face, Vans, and Timberland, each operated as a largely independent brand under the parent company's ownership.
