Vale, formerly Companhia Vale do Rio Doce, is a Brazilian multinational corporation engaged in metals and mining and one of the largest logistics operators in Brazil. It is the world's largest producer of iron ore and nickel, also producing manganese, copper, bauxite and cobalt, though its operations have been marked by two catastrophic tailings dam failures, at Mariana in 2015 and Brumadinho in 2019.
