This child group collects Metals and Mining members headquartered in North and South America, spanning the major United States and Canadian steelmakers and gold and base-metal miners (U.S. Steel, Nucor, Cleveland-Cliffs, Barrick, Freeport-McMoRan, Teck Resources), the Latin American mining and steel groups of Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Argentina (Vale, Grupo Mexico, Gerdau, Ternium), and the smelters, refiners and historic American mining ventures whose operations are centered in the Western Hemisphere. It is the largest of the four regional child groups under this atlas's current coverage.
