Trafigura Group is a Singapore based multinational commodities trading company founded in 1993 by Claude Dauphin and Eric de Turckheim after splitting from a group of companies managed by Marc Rich, with its main office at Ocean Financial Centre in Singapore and regional hubs in Geneva, Houston, Montevideo and Mumbai. The company trades physical commodities focused on base metals and energy products and has become the world's largest private metal trader and the second largest oil trader, backed by its own pipelines, mines, smelters, ports and storage terminals. In 2025 it reported revenue of two hundred forty billion dollars and net income of two point six seven billion dollars with about twelve thousand employees across one hundred fifty countries. The company's history includes major controversies, most notably the 2006 dumping of toxic waste in Ivory Coast that left tens of thousands of people with skin, respiratory and other injuries.
