Toyota Motor Kyushu is a Toyota plant company set up in 1991 and focused on the production of Lexus cars, engines and hybrid systems. Its headquarters and single assembly plant are in Miyawaka in Fukuoka Prefecture, and car production started there in December 1992. The company was set up because Toyota could not hire enough workers in Aichi at the peak of Japan's asset price bubble, and chose the Miyata Industrial Park in Kyushu for its transport links and surplus workforce. Car production started in December 1992.
