The Lego Group, formally Lego A/S, is a Danish toy manufacturer and media company headquartered in Billund, Denmark, founded by carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen in 1932 and still majority owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family. The company is known for its interlocking plastic brick construction toys, introduced in their modern stud-and-tube form in 1958, which have since been extended into licensed sets built around properties including Star Wars, Harry Potter and Marvel alongside original lines such as Ninjago. The Lego Group has also built a chain of Legoland theme parks around the world, expanded into film and television through The Lego Movie franchise, and operates a large network of branded retail stores. A separate Lego product-service entity already live on this atlas covers the brick product line itself; this entity is the corporate group.
