The Hershey Company is an American confectionery company headquartered in Hershey, Pennsylvania, founded by Milton S. Hershey in 1894 as a subsidiary of his existing Lancaster Caramel Company, spun off as its own chocolate-making enterprise soon after and built around Hershey's pioneering large-scale, affordable milk chocolate production. It became the largest chocolate manufacturer in North America, known for the Hershey's Milk Chocolate Bar and Kisses, and expanded its portfolio through acquisitions including Reese's peanut butter cups in 1963.
