TalkTalk is a British telecommunications provider founded in Leeds in February 2003 as a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse, demerged as a standalone company in March 2010, and headquartered in Salford, England. It offers broadband internet, fixed-line and pay-television services across the United Kingdom, ranking among the country's big four internet service providers alongside BT, Sky and Virgin Media, and reported revenue of 1,557 million pounds with net income of 153 million pounds in 2020. In October 2015 the company suffered a major cyberattack exposing customer data, for which it was fined 400,000 pounds by the Information Commissioner's Office in October 2016 for inadequate data security; it is currently owned by Toscafund Asset Management following a takeover valuing the company at 1.1 billion pounds in March 2021.
