Taco Bell is an American multinational fast food chain serving Mexican inspired food such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos, founded by Glen Bell in Downey, California in 1962. It is now a subsidiary of Yum! Brands headquartered in Irvine, California, operating more than 8,000 restaurants of which over 94 percent are run by independent franchisees and licensees, and it serves more than two billion customers a year. Taco Bell was previously owned by PepsiCo from 1978 to 1997 and is a sister brand to KFC and Pizza Hut under Yum! Brands.
