Singapore Telecommunications Limited, widely known as Singtel, is a Singaporean telecommunications company headquartered in Singapore, tracing its roots to telegraph and telephone services established in the city from 1879, corporatized as Singapore Telecom in 1992 and majority owned by the Singaporean state investment company Temasek Holdings. Beyond its domestic fixed and mobile network, it holds substantial stakes in regional telecom operators including Telkomsel in Indonesia, Bharti Airtel in India, Globe Telecom in the Philippines and AIS in Thailand, making it one of Asia's largest telecommunications groups by regional reach.
