Siemens is a German multinational engineering company headquartered in Munich and Berlin, focused on industrial automation, building technology, rail transport and health technology. Its origins trace to 1847, when Werner von Siemens and Johann Georg Halske founded a telegraph construction company in Berlin, and the present-day corporation took its current form through a 1966 merger of three Siemens companies; it is the largest engineering company in Europe.
