Saab-Scania AB was a Swedish vehicle manufacturer formed on 1 September 1969, when Saab AB of Trollhättan, which made aircraft and cars, merged with Scania-Vabis of Södertälje, which made trucks and buses. It ran as one group under the Wallenberg family group of companies, with separate divisions for aircraft, which traded under the Saab AB brand, for cars, which traded under the Saab Automobile brand until 1990, and for trucks and buses under the Scania brand. The merger let Saab use Scania's engine production facilities, and in 1972 it began manufacturing the two-litre B version of its engine. The group was split in 1995, when the truck and bus business took back the name Scania AB and the aircraft business continued as Saab AB. Saab cars made from 1969 to 1989 are recorded here as built by Saab-Scania, the company of their own period.
